Mascara Series Part 11: Max Factor Lash Perfection Volume and Definition Mascara Review and Photos

Max Factor Lash Perfection Volume & Definition Mascara (around $7.50)

I know I promised you this review ages ago and I'm just not getting to it. Things have been a little crazy around here and there have just been so many other great products to review that this has constantly been shoved onto the back-burner but here it is at last!

The Brush: Max Factor's Lash Perfection Mascara utilizes the same iFx brush technology that their wonderful Volume Couture mascara does, minus the volumizing micro-channels, and is ideal for achieving great definition and reaching every last lash. There are a million tiny little silicone-y bristles that are great for separating and lengthening each lash, and also great for poking yourself in the eye and doing some serious damage (I speak from experience).

The Formula: Lash Perfection smudges a little onto my underye area during the course of the day, but there's zero flaking and the smudging is minimal enough to be forgivable. The formula is great for building length and all around pretty decent. This was actually my favorite drugstore mascara before discovering Max Factor's Volume Couture mascara, but read down below and you'll see why I'm not as enthuastic in my review of this as I once would have been.

The Verdict: This mascara is really quite good and better than many department store mascaras I've tried, but it just can't live up to the fabulosity of its sibling, Volume Couture. Max Factor's Volume Couture volumizes, lengthens to no end, never clumps, flakes, or smudges and is just all around an amazing mascara. If you're stuck choosing between the do, I'd definitely recommend going with the Volume Couture. You get the same definition that Lash Perfection can give you, but with the added bonus of greater length and volume!

RATING: 3.5/5

awesome idea!! I can't wait to see the mascara's that you suggest!! I am always on the lookout for a mascara that will make my short asian eyelashes longer and thicker =( haven't been so lucky yet...but maybe this will change after all your reviews! =)

This is the second Max Factor mascara you've tried for your series, and I must say I am rather impressed with how nice they look. So far, the photos of the MF mascaras look better than some of the really pricey mascaras you reviewed. I recall that the Volume Couture mascara looked ten times better than that Guerlain mascara you tried. This one looks better than Guerlain as well. I think Guerlain needs to just stick to making Meteorites.

That's pretty impressive! I never have luck with drugstore mascaras, but this one looks like it's worth checking out. I love the last picture... your lashes look so incredibly long!

Deb the Max Factor mascaras are pretty wonderful and definitely MUCH better than a lot of department store mascaras that I've tried. I'm so impressed with their quality!

The Volume Couture is one of my current faves. And yes the Guerlain mascara was absolutely terrible! Not the worst I've tried but definitely down there.

Nicole have you ever tried and Max Factor ones? I tend to hate drugstore mascaras as a whole because they just don't cut it for me. I have a bunch lined up for review this week and you'll see what I mean. But the Max Factor ones are so great!

I love this tube!! It's a lot cooler than the volume couture one.
I'm so glad that you are getting that mascara out there. It's seriously my favorite mascara of all time and I <3 it. Not a lot of people are trying it though. maybe because it's drugstore?

THanks for reviewing Jen!

Frosty I was a little disappointed by how plain the Volume Couture packaging was but the contents more than made up for it!

More people really need to get into the volume couture it's absolutely fabulous and so affordable. Hopefully my review will convert a few hardcore department store mascara users over to it!

Hey, Jen :)

I'm back :P

Max Factor sure does produce some amazing mascaras!
Your lashes look amazing. Do you ever use an eyelash primer? How do you get your lashes to hold a curl? :( Mine always uncurl, stubborn straight lashes!

Glad to see that you're back!!!

I should use a lash primer since I do have one (the Shiseido) but honestly I'm just too lazy for that one additional step in the morning and so I never use it. And my lashes are stubborn and stick straight and refuse to hold a curl too! I'll be reviewing a mascara tomorrow or so that is great for straight asian lashes so definitely check back!

What curler do you use? I highly recommend the Shu!
