L'Oreal High Intensity Pigment Kohl Eyeliners in Navy & Gold (approximately $13)L'Oreal HIP's Kohl Eyeliners are richly pigmented loose-powder kohl liners that come packaged in chic, portable little tubes.
I was intrigued by the launch of HIP's Kohl Eyeliners, as I'd been dying to try the Guerlain Kohls but just couldn't bring myself to fork over that kinda cash for something I might or might nor use. These are the first powder liners I've tried, and I must admit that I'm very impressed by the quality of these.
Hip's Kohl Eyeliners are very very pigmented, and contrary to the lumpy appearance of the loose powder on the applicator, apply smoothly. Well what about lasting power? Thanks to the rich pigmentation these actually stay put really well, but I did have some trouble with smudging on my upper lash line which isn't surprising since I have very oily eyelids. I do love these for the waterline though--they makes for a great pop of color that lasts for hours on end.

The bad? Well the applicator leaves a little something to be desired. It's rather rigidly constructed, and the stiffness makes for difficult application (at least for uncoordinated lil' old me) and tons of fallout.
The Navy shade is a great, softer alternative to black liner. But the shade I'm really loving is the Gold--the metallic shade really pops against my skin and creates a great gilded summer eye.
Please excuse these terrible EOTD shots. Lack of time + terrible lighting = crappy makeup job =X. But I decided to go ahead and post so that you can see what the kohls look like on. Now that's love!

I'm wearing the Navy Kohl on my upper eyelid and the Gold Kohl along my waterliner. As you can see, the Navy started smudging a bit pretty much immediately post-application, but the gold stayed true almost all day.
If you've been wanting to try Kohl Eyeliners L'Oreal HIP's are definitely a nice way to start. They're relatively affordable, come in a nice range of eye-popping hues and the packaging is pretty hard to beat. Now if HIP would only package these so that you could tell if they'd been opened or not (a little pastic wrap never hurt anbody) they'd be set!

I have these and they seem to flake a lot. I would like them a lot more if there wasn't that pesky removal of the flakiness, if that makes sense
Nessa I totally know what you mean--I definitely wasn't a fan of the messy fallout, especially with the darker shades. The flakes fall, then when you try to brush them off they smudge, creating streaks on your face.
I have all the more recent Guerlain kohls which I love... they make tightlining really easy! Although the oriental stick applicator is really intimidating. I find that there's a bit of fall out with the initial application (or I am just not that great at shaking off the extra pigment) but the kohls usually outlast all of the rest of my makeup...
I love that gold though, I might get it as Guerlain does not have a similar colour!
Asiyakei I'm jealous--are they absolutely gorgeous? The L'Oreal gold is really really nice and worth a shot since you seem to have the whole kohl application thing down pat.
This and the Guerlain Kohls applicators have always intimidated me!
Nazia the applicator on this is really hard to work with--it either needs to be stiffer and more uniform so it doesn't bend at all, or else have a bit more give to it. This is some weird, hard in between thing (as though your liquid liner applicator had hardened and stiffened up into a gross mess) that's really hard to get a nice clean look with.
I was curious about these, but I was afraid they would be messy to work with. I also agree with your comment about the packaging not having a seal. I am always a bit concerned that someone might have dipped into the product if it is not sealed. Even a little sticker would suffice.
Deb these are most definitely messy. I guess I haven't perfected the art of shaking off just enough product to have enough left to work with while not having ridiculous fallout because I always end up with a mess on my cheekbones.
hard and messy applicator is no no for me..but it came out really beautiful on your eyes! i have to stop lemming for liners..i only have a pair of eyes and I just bought a lot of liners! I need to stop!!!!!
LOL askmewhats! i'm like that with lip products. i know i only have on pair of lips but i can't stop buying lipsticks and glosses and balms and all sorts of other things i know i don't need!
Powder? Weird. The applicator does look horrific, but you applied it well, so it must be better than it looks.
It looks sparkly though, I hate using glittery products on my waterline, since the glitter can get into my eye and irritate me, has that been a problem?
Ana the shimmer's actually from the shadows--the liner itself has some slight sheen but no glittery bits in it so no problems with irritation.
But the applicator really is a nightmare for me to work with! I've been wracking my brain trying to find a better way to use this stuff.
They look amazing! Really love the colours they POP. What pink is that? I LOVE it! Thanks for the awesome review. xx..Sorrow
Hey CrimsonSorrow! This pink is the pink from the DressCamp palette - it's actually a blush and one of my fave pinks EVER! I'm so sad it was so limited!
