ABS' Five

I'm thrilled to see that some of my favorite brands have re-released some old favorites. Scroll down to check them out!

La Mer The Radiant Concealer SPF 25 ($65)
This treatment cream concealer instantly evens the skin's appearance while adding radiance. Gemstones capture light energy to camouflage dark circles and blemishes, optically erasing imperfections to create a smooth, even finish. Precious marine and plant extracts help reduce the appearance of undereye puffiness, lines, and wrinkles and minimize pores. Redness and discoloration are diminished as skin is continuously calmed and soothed. Fine layers provide buildable coverage. Skin stays naturally flawless all day.

By the time I got around to hearing about miraculous properties of La Mer's concealer, it was long off the market. Then I began hearing rumors last year that La Mer was planning to rerelease this little gem, and here we have it! I know it's really pricey at $65, but it does come with a brush for application and I have yet to finish a concealer so I know this would last forever for me. I'm dying to try this!

Josie Maran Argan Oil Moisturizing Stick ($22)
Josie Maran's best-selling Argan Oil now comes in a stick form! This multi-purpose balm offers all the benefits of the nourishing oil, which includes anti-aging ingredients rich in fatty acids and vitamin E. A head-to-toe spot treatment for dry areas in need of moisture, this soothing balm conditions and repairs skin as it hydrates. Use it to moisturize chapped lips, soothe dry skin, tame fly aways, alleviate itching and stinging from insect bites, moisturize dry cuticles, relieve chafing skin, soothe stretch marks, calm sunburn, soothe waxed skin, and much, much more.

The much-loved Josie Maran Argan Oil now comes in stick form! I'm thinking maybe I'd like this to use on the lips/hands and dry patches on my face as I really like my Josie Maran Argan Oil but find it a little messy to use. Plus if you've been wanting to check out her Argan Oil, this is a less expensive way of doing so.

Guerlain Russian Doll Radiant Blush ($42)
Guerlain created Russian Doll—a liquid blush with a unique shade of luminous, sheer pink—to generate natural radiance and give the cheeks a healthy glow. It captures the healthy, radiant look of a woman who has a returned from a brisk walk on a crisp afternoon. The kaolin-based formula gives the blush a creamy texture that is easy to apply and dries within seconds for a comfortable, lasting feel. One drop is enough for both cheeks to perfect the "Russian Doll" look.

What can I say, I want this! Fast-drying, cute packaging, gives you a Russian Doll look - what's not to like?

Dior Crème Abricot Fortifying Cream For Nails ($23)
Created in 1963, Dior's "Cult-favorite Magic Multi-tasker" is the key to truly terrific nails. This creamy salve encourages nail growth, improves nail strength, and conditions cuticles. It can be massaged into the base of nail pre- or post- polish.

I remember being a young girl and sneaking into my mother's stash of Dior's Creme Abricot and applying it to my cuticles - I had absolutely no idea what I was doing, but I felt so adult! I'm so happy to see this product is back because it brings back so many fond childhood memories for me. I think I may have to pick one up for the sake of nostalgia.

Philosophy Divine Illumination ($85)
philosophy's 'divine illumination' was created to transform the way skin looks and feels by addressing multiple skin concerns with topical anti-aging ingredients. The formula is enriched with peptides, vitamins E, C, and A, topical hydrators and skin-soothing agents that help balance and restore moisture levels and improve skin tone and texture. It's also loaded with antioxidants to help protect skin against free-radical attack. What makes this anti-aging moisturizer especially unique are light diffusers and natural skin enhancers that help give skin luminosity for a healthy glow.

This launched months ago on QVC, and of course I wanted it, and then I proceeded to forget all about it. The lemming has been reawakened!

So what's on your beauty wishlist this week?

I'm going to say the two on my list are the Jose Moran Stick Argon Oil and the Dior Creme Abricot. The last one looks delish. That might be the first I get. Right now I'm trying out the much tooted Burt's Bees Lemon Cuticle to see if I'll keep it.

T.R. I know I don't need the Dior at all but I really want it because it makes me happy to just look at it. I remember just sitting in my mother's dressing room rubbing this into my nails wondering what it was for and what cuticles were LOL!

LOL awwww Jen I just had the cutest little picture in my head. Um what happened to Choloe, if I may ask?

LOL T.R. feel free to ask away - she's doing well being a lazy little doggy at home. I really should post more photos of her, I'm sure she feels neglected and unloved on ABS as of late!

Hi Jen! These series of posts always get me lusting away, LOL
If I could, I'd check out the Guerlain blush and Josie Marans Argan Oil stick. I've heard that Vitamin E does wonders for the skin. I hope you have a lovely day! :)

Marce I love doing this series of posts, it's always fun to share wishlists even when you can't quite afford all of it (or any of it in my cases LOL).

I'm really curious about the Guerlain blush. I probably wouldn't purchase it, but I do want to play with it!

Hm, considering nails are just made of the dead protein keratin, I can't imagine anything you put ON the nails is going to do anything lasting whatsoever. Quite literally flogging a dead horse, that.

It would need to act on the lunula (the semi-circular base which produces the nail) in order to affect keratin production in any way.

The liquid blush is very interesting, is it like a normal stain or something else? It looks like it sprays on, but that can't be right, surely?

A Beautyful Sentiment (*Jen*) said on August 26, 2009 at 1:55 PM

Ana I believe that this is meant to be massaged into the lunula, I just didn't know any better when I was little and massaged it into my nails LOL.

It's like a liquid pump blush. I'm interested in seeing the consistency of this.

mmm that Dior nail cream looks yummy. If I happen to find it somewhere I'll give it a try. I have so soft nails T_T

And the Guerlain blush! *.* Does any other company produces blushes in such pumping bottles? Even the bottle is lovely ^.^ But $42....uhm no. If I win the lottery I'll buy it in 3 shades at least ;D

Mary it does look rather yummy!

I've been meaning to review my nail base coat and top coat for ages now. The base coat is a great nail strengthener that Nicole got me that's just great for helping to harden weak/bendy nails.

Hmmm blushes in pump bottles. I know that I've seen a few before, but off the top of my head I can't think of any. The TEMPTU blushes that come in pump brush form as really nice. The brushes stink so I just pump it onto my finger.

I'm waiting for both the La Mer concealer and powder foundation! I tested the concealer (in the wrong shade though) and it was so so so silky smooth. Extremely easy to blend. Covers quite well too. But I'm not sure how it'll wear since i didn't actually use it on my face. Lol

*Jen* said on August 26, 2009 at 5:07 PM

Connie hearing your thoughts on the concealer only makes me want it more! I wonder if it lasts all day though since I'm super oily. If it did it would be well worth the price!

I have to use strengtheners too, thus I'm with polished nails most of the time. But sadly it does not help as much as I'd like. What's the name of the one you use? Maybe I can find it somewhere and give it a try.

Mary in Wonder I feel like it says Rossi something on it? I don't have it in front of me, but I promise that I'll get around to blogging about it one of these days!

Unknown said on August 28, 2009 at 4:40 PM

Thanks!
By talking about it i feel like redoing my nailpolish including more vitamins and strengthening.

A Beautyful Sentiment (*Jen*) said on August 31, 2009 at 10:52 AM

Mary I sometimes wonder if I'm tormenting my nails by changing the polish so often. But I love the way polish looks so I can't stop LOL!

Ooh, I really want the La Mer Concealer but woah, why are La Mer products so expensive?

A Beautyful Sentiment (*Jen*) said on September 27, 2009 at 9:15 PM

Lisa I'm always torn on my La Mer products. They work amazingly well and they're great quality but like you said, they're pretty insanely expensive! I always end up splurging though.
