Mixology Makeup Mineral Eye ShadowBefore we get to the actual review, a little bit more on Mixology Makeup for those of you who have never heard of it. Mixology Makeup is a vegan mineral makeup line that contains no cheap fillers, no chemicals, no synthetic dyes (the culprits for most allergic reactions), no parabens, and no preservatives, and it's bismuth & carmine free!
But what I love most about this line is its creator, Rae. She's currently in China volunteering her time and participating in various humanitarian services, and purchasing her makeup via her Etsy shop is something you can really feel good about, since 5% of all sales goes towards enabling Mixology to sponsor 1 clean water well in an African Village through BloodWaterMission.com. The cost is $3,000, and they're almost there!

Now onto the eyeshadows!
Swatches with Flash(see same swatches without flash at the bottom of this post)
Top Row: Ingenue (blush), Suga, Punk Shoes, Rock Show
Middle Row: Pirate, Dune, Armor, U-Minx
Bottom Row: Turbulence, By Chance, Soot

- Ingenue: A dusty peachy pink with lots of gold shimmer. Pigmented and smooth--a little more glitter than I would normally go for, but still beautiful.
- Suga: A shimmery silvery baby pink that's very finely milled.
- Punk Shoes: A matte light purpley/pinky gray shade that I'd had high hope for but was a little disappointed by, only because it doesn't show up as much as I would've hoped.
- Rock Show: A gorgeous bright lilac/purple with shimmer that, while a little chunky, has great pigment and looks fabulous on. One of my favorites!

- Pirate: A dark, rather matte purple that I just adore. It's intense, pigmented, smoky, and just perfect to highlight your outer V to create a sexy evening eye.
- Dune: Yet another love of mine. It's seriously the perfect satiny beige that's not too matte and not too shimmery. It makes a gorgeous highlighter, but I love to use it as an all-over eye shade on those days when I'm feeling more of a neutral eye.
- Armor: Easily one of my favorites, Armor is a striking shimmery steel silver/gray that was a much-needed addition to my shadow collection.
- U-Minx: Definitely the most pigmented shadow of the bunch by far, and that's saying a lot since they're all really pigmented. I literally used one little speck of U-Mix for this swatch. U-Minx is a decadent, rich chocolate brown that makes a seriously beautiful eyeliner thanks to its intense pigmentation.

- Turbulence: Turbulence reinded me quite a bit of the Deep Blue Green pigment from MAC Hello Kitty (see swatch HERE). It has that same almost black look in certain lightings that reflects green/teal at certain angles and really has a beautiful, dramatic effect.
- By Chance: To me By Chance looks like a pale gray with lavender undertones, but regardless of what color it actually is, I really like it for a matte, work-appropriate neutral eye.
- Soot: A semi-matte charcoal gray that's dramatic but has enough silvery blue overtone to make it a very versatile shade.

Overall I really loved my Mixology shadows. They come in a beautiful range of shades, have great pigmentation, come in both matte and shimmery options, and wear and blend beautifully.

wow.. the colors look so nice and pigmented... I wonder will I get allergic frm mineral ?
the colors are super pretty! gosh! i haven't been using my mineral e/s for a long time! :)
Oooh that 2nd row is definitely so gorgeous. I love that it's for a great cause as well!!
Syn@3sTh3sI@ I usually react to mineral foundations, and I haven't had any issues with Mixology's, so maybe you won't either? The line does state that it's great for people with allergies.
Askmewhats I go through phrases--sometimes I love mineral shadows, but other months I don't even go near them. I'm so fickle!
Tricia that's my favorite row too---so many pretty colors there! I'm wearing Armor today for a simple smoky, almost work-appropriate look =P.
Jen the colors are amazing. I can't wait for some eye shots...*hint hint*. I personally get my pigments at the moment from TKB Trading. I usually just order the samples which are about the amount that comes in MAC pigments but they're only $1.50.
I do like how she's out in the world living and giving. That's what we all should be doing. And we can start right here. Maybe I'll buy one thing or do you know if we can just donate?
Turbulence gets my vote!!! i thought it was a metallic black when seeing it in the first pic. then i read the descrition you wrote below and love it even more. the blush looks very nice too.
LOL T.R. I hope to get some EOTD's up within the next week or so. With the crazy hours I've been working lately I've been finding it harder and harder to fit in time for the blog, and especially makeup shots, which is sad since I love doing them!
TKB Trading sounds great! How do you feel about the quality of their pigments?
Unfortunately I have no idea about the donation thing, but I was so impressed reading about Rae in her etsy shop profile. I'm continually amazed by all of the loving, wonderful individuals in this world!
Jojoba I'm waiting for the perfect evening out to fully test out Turbulence since it's definitely pretty dramatic. Hopefully I can do it justice!
Jen LOVE LOVE TKB Trading pigments. They sale wholesale to mineral makeup manufacturers, big and small. So buying direct from them is kinda cheaper. It's the straight up mica so there isn't anything added to them yet. They color payoff is absolutely amazing, blending is incredible and the colors are just beautiful.
I get so many compliments when I wear them. I wore two colors yesterday and my MAC MUA thought they looked great. And they are just 1.50 for a sample and you get like a ton. I buy 5 gram jars and still have enough left over to share with 3-4 other people.
I agree with you about the wonderful people in the world. I think we all are basically wonderful just that unfortunately life hasn't always been kind to so many so we loose who we are in our pain. But I'm a hopeless optimist so I do believe in people and LOVE. :O)
so very pretty. I hope you do a look on them soon!
Suga, Dune and Armor look like colors I'd like to try.
The colors are beautiful, esp Turbolence. And I like that it's for a very good cause too.
T.R. I'm a sucker for the words "color payoff" and "absolutely amazing" in the same sentence! Plus blending is really important to me since blending is key for a flawless eye.
I can't believe that the samples are so generous and cheap! Definitely worth checking out. I'll have to remember to google them.
I used to be a hopeless optimist but I feel like life's really been getting to me these past few years. I'm trying to regain some of that though!
Kasumi I just posted them--hope you like them! :)
Phyrra they're all really pretty! I'm definitely a Mixology fan now :).
Gio I when I can buy makeup and feel good about myself at the same time. =D
Jen I know life can be rough. That's why faith is sooooo very important. It's faith that keeps us going. I know you've probably heard this a million times...:O) but the great thing about youth is you grow out of your circumstances with time and get to look back and know you made it out. :O) Keep your head up and people are basically good it's just that it gets lost sometimes on the road of life.
Sorry about the waxing philosophical. I'm in one of those moods. :O) <3
T.R. please feel free to wax philosophical as often as you want! It really helps to lift my spirits.
You're definitely right though. The thought that this is just a small piece of my life in the long run helps me to get through the tough times.
You're such a wonderful T.R.--I feel blessed to have you frequent my blog!
Jen I love your blog which I is basically an extension of you. :O) This the only blog I check regularly even like every 2 hours...LOL.
Now if I can just get Ana back on board I'll be set. You two were my first two favorited beauty bloggers. :O)
T.R. I love getting to know my readers and I feel like I've definitely been getting to know you through the comments, and from what I've seen/read you're wonderful! I often worry that I'll come off as a crazy materialistic shopaholic, but I promise I'm not LOL!
Seriously Ana needs to get back on the blogging horse! She's gorgeous, has a wonderful acerbic sense of humor and amazing makeup skills.
Thank you for the wonderful compliment. :O) Jen you definitely don't come off as that. You just like makeup and nice things. There's nothing wrong with it. Some people like shoes, some hats, some purses, some clothes, cars, etc. You just like makeup...LOL Trust me EVERYONE spends there money where they want if it ain't makeup it's something else. I personal have several fetishes. LOL makeup has just become my more recent one.
And I whole heartedly agree with you about Ana. I LOVE her site and her wit. It amazes me she's so young and so profound sometimes. :O) She's playing that online game. I want to ask which one but knowing my addictive personality, I better not. :O)
T.R. unfortunately I like makeup AND purses--two rather expensive addictions! Well the makeup not nearly as much as the bags LOL.
No asking Ana about that game--I can't lose you too! I'd be wallowing in loneliness here in blog-land with both of you gone.
