Yves Saint Laurent Rouge Volupte Silky Sensual Radiant Lipstick SPF 15 ($34)
See more Rouge Volupte swatches here.

See how the lipstick shade matches the color ring around the center of the tube?
I know I raved about the formula in this post so I'll spare you the nitty gritty, but suffice it to say that these are probably the creamiest, silkiest lipsticks you'll ever encounter. They apply like a dream and simply glide over your lips--heaven! They have a pleasant and unexpected fruity scent and flavor to them that I adore, and the pigmentation is everything that you could hope for--all with the added bonus of SPF.

Mirror on Top of Tube
The packaging is thoughtfully designed and absolutely gorgeous--not a thing I can find wrong with these tubes. Well okay one little thing--the mirror on top isn't the most attractive, but it's practical!

A Close-Up View

Swatch of YSL Rouge Volupte in #7 Lingerie Pink
Now onto the shade I purchased--Lingerie Pink. To be honest I'm really not a fan of it at all =X. While I love almost everything about YSL's Rouge Volupte's, I do wish that they had a greater color selection. My problem was that half of the shades were too pale/neutral, and the other half were much too bright--is it too much to ask for a soft pretty pink shade?
When I swatched Lingerie Pink on my hand it appeared as a milky opaque pink with white tones to it--not the most flattering. I figured no problem--I have many lipsticks like this and since they apply decently sheerly, they look great on. Not the case here! Rouge Volupte's are super creamy and pigmented, and therefore the color you see in the tube is exactly the color that you'll be getting on your lips.

On my lips
While it's not nearly as scary looking in person (the flash picks up a lot of white), it is still too pale for my liking (although SO and my mother seem to like it), and I'll probably only be wearing shade #7 with a darker shade underneath to help balance it out.
I have #1 Nude Beige on its way to me, so hopefully I'll have better luck this time around!

hey jen! your pictures are so much better than mine, lol. what camera do you use? anyway, lingerie pink looks exactly the same on me. so far, the best i can do is to just apply a really pink gloss to help balance it a bit, but even then it's a tad too pale. the problem when i bought this was that they didn't even have the testers out so i went by the swatches they had on some paper, and it definitely didn't look anywhere as pale as it does in real life. it looks really pretty in the tube though, just not so much when applied. :( i'm going to try out your idea of using it with a darker shade underneath and see how that goes. i'm excited to see how your #1 compares to my #2. mine is supposed to be a pinkish beige... but to me it's way more on the beige side.
OMG.i love the color!!!!! but the price tag is !@#$% for just a lipstick
Wow, but the pigmentation! I take it back, they're ugly tubes but they do the job. I reckon that colour would look great on me, hint hint =P
I was reading about these in Cosmo, too, people are raving about 'em. I think I'll stick to my $1 Nyx lipsticks until I have an idea of which colours suit me.
You have the most awesome plump lips, btw D:
morning nicole!
i have an olympus FE-230 which is 7.1 megapixels. it's honestly not a great camera. i was going on a trip to jamaica a few years back and really wanted a camera but i needed something small and not too expensive so ended up with this. i'd love to have a big fancy camera to take blog photos with but this does the job.
the key to my photos is to take a million until there's one i'm satisfied with lol! and i think after taking so many photos i've kind of figured out what angles are best for taking certain types of photos. they still need a lot of work though but i'm so happy you like them!
i was looking back at your photo of lingerie pink on and was thinking perhaps it might be pinker on you and that you'd tell me you didn't expect it to look so pale on me but i'm glad to hear it's not just me. the swatch of this on the YSL site is much pinker and not as pale too--i forgot that they didn't have testers when you first purchased these!
it really is beautiful in the tube though.
from the descriptions it definitely did sound like #2 was the pinky shade, and #1 was the more straight-up beige shade, but from my personal swatching #2 seemed pretty beige whereas #1 had a decent amount of pink to it. too bad it'll be another few days thanks to my order screw up =X.
thanks anonymous! i honestly thought i'd get a lot of "OMG that color is so ugly on you" comments so it makes me happy to hear that people like it!
and yes the price is CRAZY for a lipstick. luckily i purchased this during bergdorf's beauty event ($25 off a purchase of $100 or more) so in my head i only paid like $9 for it!
lol anastasia i'd forgotten that you thought these tubes were ugly! shhhh lipsticks don't cry...jen still thinks you're beautiful!
these really have amazing pigmentation--the best out of any lipsticks i've ever seen. i'd say these lippies are definitely rave-worthy.
i think this color would look great on you too with a dramatic eye =D
i'll be your color guinea pig until i find one that i love.
awww thanks so much! i hate taking/posting lip photos because they always look strange to me--which is why my lip photos are never as big as the regular ones lol!
Psh! I've got really thin lips, yours are gorgeous.
Mine were really dry too, although I got my MAC Prep + Prime this morning so I've been giving them a little love.
If you haven't seen it, it's like a lipstick but one side is an exfoliator and the other side a lip conditioner :3
I reallllly love this lippie on you! Every woman needs a pretty pale pink lipstick in her collection. Fab!
I agree that's it's quite pale. While I don't always put stock in everything I read in books and magazines about cosmetics, I once read that a good pink shouldn't be lighter than your natural lip color. Otherwise, you get that too pale, washed out look. I can sort of see your natural lip color in the picture, and I think the lipstick would look much better if it were just a shade or two darker.
anastasia you flatter me! *blush*
how are you liking the mac prep + prime? i've eyed it a few times while at MAC but never picked it up--does the exfoliator really help? my lips are generally pretty well behaved, but they have those days where they're just peeling away and being naughty.
thanks b! i do love a soft pink, although this one may just be a little too soft for me! =D
deb i was definitely expecting this to be about a shade or so lighter than my natural lipcolor, but not this pale!
my natural lip color tends to be quite pink so i don't mind going a shade lighter, but too light like this and it can look off because my natural color is just dying to come through!
I LOVE the Mac Prep + Prime. It was only £10 ($20) which I considered a bargain considering the other similar products I'd seen were all separate, not the conditioner/exfoliator combined and cost more in total. You only smooth on a thin layer and the little black beads come off on your lips, so you use your finger to rub them around and make your lips smooth, then condition, so you don't waste a lot of the stick.
I found that after they were smoothed, lipstick went on better and stayed on longer, I guess because the colour absorbs a bit?
Either way, I love it! $20 well spent =]
LOL Anastasia I was reading your comment and for a second I thought I read that little blackheads came off of your lips!! Sorry but a little gross =X. I'm relieved to see that they weren't blackhead, but black beads =P.
This sounds really great I may have to check it out during my next MAC visit!
wow the pink is so...pinkish and girlish. and yeah i agree that the price is so steep for a piece of lipstick
thanks for visiting prettybeautiful! this pink is really super pink and just a little much or my taste! and yes it's so expensive!
